Wednesday 21 February is Mental Health Nurses’ Day, and it’s a time to acknowledge how far the profession has come as well as how far it still has to go facing global economic, environmental, clinical and ethical challenges in the future.

Julia Wells, chief nurse for adult mental health, explained: “We’re very proud of teams across Grampian, not just nurses but the health care support workers, clinicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and everyone who contributes towards service delivery.

“We’re beginning a journey today with the Pathway to Excellence programme and we’re committed to working with staff across Grampian to improve our services and continue to develop our supportive, innovative workplace.”

Various quality improvement projects and innovations are already underway across Mental Health and Learning Disability Services and these were highlighted at a recent event. Find out more: Mental Health and Learning Disability Quality Event 2023 (nhsgrampian.org)
