Emergency Departments

Suspected stroke or heart attack. Serious illness or injury.  Turn to your hospital's Emergency Department.

  • In the event of a serious accident or a medical emergency - call 999

  • If your GP surgery is closed and you are too ill to wait for it to reopen - call NHS 24 on 111 (or textphone on 18001 111)

  • For routine health matters and queries, contact your GP practice

Our Emergency Departments provide care for people with symptoms of serious illness or who have been badly injured.  They are located at:

The Emergency Departments should not be used for conditions that should be seen by your GP practice, pharmacist or minor injury service. 

If you are unsure about which service to access, contact NHS 24 who can offer advice.  Call NHS 24 on 111, or by textphone on 18001 111.  If English isn't your first language and you require a translator, tell the person answerwing the call the language you speak.  They will then link your call as soon as possible with a translation service.
